Where are the Carriers? (26 Jan 2011)

Here is the Naval Update Map (based on open source information) from STRATFOR, an excellent and balanced provider of geopolitical and military analysis and insight.  I encourage everyone interested in world affairs and investments to subscribe.

I note that we have no naval forces (at least nothing big) close to Egypt.  Nothing in the Med.  Nothing in the Red Sea.  The USS Enterprise Carrier Strike Group is on its way to support ops off of Iran/Pakistan/Afghanistan, probably to relieve the USS Abraham Lincoln, but I really doubt they will be going through the Suez Canal right now.  Maybe they will redirect and go around the Cape of Good Hope.

I call this being caught flat-footed.
